Tilda Swinton teams up with filmmaker David Lowery for See-Saw Films’ adaptation of Death in Her Hands.

Academy Award-winning actress Tilda Swinton is set to lead the upcoming feature film “Death in Her Hands,” a psychological mystery thriller from acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery and award-winning production company See-Saw Films. The news has generated significant buzz across the film industry, combining Swinton’s transformative screen presence with Lowery’s signature storytelling style.
Adapted from the 2020 novel by Ottessa Moshfegh, Death in Her Hands tells the story of a widow who stumbles upon a cryptic note in the woods near her isolated cabin: “Her name was Magda. Nobody will ever know who killed her. It wasn’t me. Here is her dead body.” What follows is a slow unraveling of truth and perception as the protagonist becomes consumed with solving a mystery that may or may not even exist.
Swinton, known for her ability to inhabit eccentric and layered characters, is considered a perfect match for the role of Vesta Gul, a woman grappling with grief, paranoia, and her own psyche. Her past performances in films like We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Eternal Daughter, and Only Lovers Left Alive have demonstrated her range in portraying emotionally intense roles.
Director David Lowery, best known for The Green Knight, A Ghost Story, and The Old Man & the Gun, is expected to bring his atmospheric, lyrical filmmaking to this adaptation. His unique touch often blends existential themes with haunting visuals — a tone that aligns seamlessly with Moshfegh’s dark and introspective narrative.
